The Two Roberts as Robert Colquhoun and Robert Macbryde were known as, were a fixture in the 1940s London art scene. Openly gay when it was actually illegal, the painters were controversial, and immensely talented. They were associated at the time with other artists who participated in the project such as Graham Sutherland and John Piper.
