In 1945 Jean-Denis Malclès designed the set and costumes for the ballet La Fiancée du Diable, by Boris Kochno, with choreography by Roland Petit at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Malclès design for an Ascher square is representative of the work he did on this ballet. The work was created with oil paint on paper.
